My Little Helper...

It's never too early to teach her how to help with laundry. We may still have some work to do. I don't think she's quite grasped it yet. Haha.

The Simplest Things...

Back in January, Kendall started to get SO excited about the most mundane things around the house. When we would pass the thermostat, for instance, she would open her mouth and breathe really hard, with her arm all the way out until she touched it. It was the same thing when we passed a light switch, she just HAD to touch it. The rod on the blinds was no different. Every time we carried her down the stairs, she saw the front door and would get so excited. The new exciting "household item" is the microwave. Any time we are close to it, she wants me to open it so that she can slam the door shut. (Maybe not the best habit to start, but it's cute nonetheless!) The best part about the blind rod is in the video below. She learned quickly that when she let the rod go, it would make a noise. So she started preparing herself for what was to come before she let it go. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do! (Side note: I was holding Kendall and taking the video at the same time, wh...

Happy 7 Months!

My K Bug, Today you turn 7 months old. I can honestly say that I have no idea where the time went. We drove by the hospital where you were born this past weekend, and I was having flashbacks of the day we brought you home. It literally feels like we were bringing you home just a few months ago...definitely not 7 months ago!  Your little sweet and fun personality is really starting to blossom. I can't express how much fun you are at this stage! You laugh at the silliest things, and get excited at  everything ! You love for mommy to open the microwave door and let you try and slam it shut. You love to grab the cord on the blinds and let it fall and make a noise. You love to constantly roll over when you're on your blanket. And I mean constantly roll over. You are such a mover. You love your exersaucer too!  You started eating real foods this month besides just rice cereal. So far, your favorite is homemade pureed bananas. Your appetite has really increased this month wi...

A Little Behind...

Apparently it's the new trend to put up Kendall's "month" pictures one month late. Below is Kendall's 6 month picture. She actually turns 7 months old tomorrow, so I hope to be much quicker in getting that one up! My little K bug is SO much fun right now. I have started back to grad school this semester, so my nights are filled with reading and case studies, instead of blogging and uploading pictures! But I hope to be a little more regular on the blog. I want to always be able to look back and see the fun things she was doing and all of her milestones! We have also been taking a lot of great videos since getting a new video camera for Christmas. But the videos are too big for the blog, so we're hoping to have a Vimeo page soon to share those on. For now, enjoy the pictures! Happy 6 Months!  Kendall is really loving carrots, squash, green beans, bananas, apples, pears, and more!  The only food she hasn't loved so far are sweet potatoes. She is rolling...

A Different Meaning...

Christmas had so much more meaning for me this year. All throughout December, I heard the song "A Baby Changes Everything". And each time I heard it, I kept thinking about how much a baby really does change everything. It certainly has for us. But for Mary, her baby's birth not only changed her life and her relationship with her husband, her baby's birth changed the world. God chose to send his Son, the world's Savior, in the most humble way - as a baby. Having a baby of my own, made me think more of what Mary must have gone through on that Christmas night so many years ago. She knew the magnitude of who her Son was. How humbling and yet scary that must have been for her. The week before Christmas was a difficult week emotionally for me. I was reminded all week of those whose holiday wouldn't be the most joyous of times. My heart was heavy for those who have lost loved ones - parents, grandparents, siblings, children, spouses, friends. My heart was particular...

Happy 5 Months...a month late!

Kendall turned 5 months old on December 8th....which means that in two days she will be 6 months old.... which means I am WAY behind on getting this post up. But nonetheless, here are Kendall's 5-month pictures. This month was so much fun! She started rolling over in both directions. She also started giggling some and smiling a lot more.  Our little girl is the joy of our lives! Happy 5 months! I don't know what it is about the horse.  But the poor thing gets taken down every time. This girl is an active little one. Of course, it would be hard to sit in the middle of 6 stuffed animals  and NOT play with them! "Seriously, are we done yet?"

Visit with Santa

Last Saturday, the 3 of us went to the Foster Care Christmas party for my work. It's an awesome time for the foster kids to get their faces painted, make Christmas crafts, eat lots of good food, and have their picture made with Santa. Ryan and I were the "photographers" for the event, which was a lot of fun. The kids really had a good time. It's so sweet to see their faces light up when they see Santa walk in the room! We also had a special visit from Buddy the Elf, which the kids thought was great! And thanks to the generosity of so many people in Atlanta, each foster parent took home a huge bag filled with toys for each child for Christmas morning. People were so generous! To top off the festivities, Kendall got her first picture with Santa! From the moment I handed her off, she just stared at him. No smiling, no crying - but lots of furrowed brow goodness (of course!). Towards the end of the picture taking, she reached up to touch his beard. She was wondering ...
