Weekday

As much as I dreaded it happening, 10 weeks passed, which meant it was time for me to go back to work. My 10 weeks were officially over on a Thursday, and I decided it would be perfect to start then so that I only had to work for 2 days before the weekend. Ryan's mom graciously offered to come watch Kendall Thursday and Friday.

I was pretty emotional the whole week leading up to going back to work. I really wanted to just enjoy my last few days at home with her, but I teared up every time I thought about it. Then Wednesday night when I was putting her to bed, she stared at me with those big brown eyes, and the tears just started flowing (mine, not hers). I knew she would be in good hands, but the thought of not being with her every day and seeing all of the new things she's learning, and hearing her coos and giggles, and seeing her smiles, just broke my heart.

Kendall started at Weekday, the name of North Point's preschool, about 3 weeks ago. After her first day, I realized that instead of being sad, I should be incredibly grateful that Kendall is in such a wonderful place.

Ryan is taking her to "school" in the mornings. On the first day, he called to tell me that they had made a "Welcome Kendall" sign for the door. The teacher also texted pictures of Kendall throughout the day to me and Ryan. It was so comforting! I am picking Kendall up most days, which is such a treat at the end of the day.

They send us home each month with a Bible verse to put on the fridge, and a calendar of all of the fun things they are going to do with our babies. (For example, this Wednesday is "orange day", but what they don't realize is that we don't wear orange in this house. We may boycott and call it "red day" instead!) They even sent home a sheet for us to fill out with any prayers requests we had. Almost too good to be true. And like I put in the last post, they are even teaching the babies Bible stories and singing them songs.

I cannot tell you how grateful I am for her to be in Weekday. The teachers already love Kendall and are so amazing with all of the babies. And they are so encouraging to us as parents, which is wonderful on those days when you feel like you are clueless when it comes to being a parent. Kendall is doing really well and really seems to love her time there. And Ryan is such an awesome dad and goes down to visit his little girl every day!

Thank you Lord for your many blessings and for my little girl who is in such good hands when she's not in ours.

  1. I was just thinking about Kendall yesterday. So glad to hear about her awesome "school". You could have sent her in a cute pumpkin something for orange day. ;)

  2. Stella, that's what I was thinking too. Orange day is tomorrow, so she may wear her "My First Halloween" outfit!

  3. Ha! I clearly don't even know what day it is. That sleep deprivation is getting to me. Hope you are catching up on your rest. Let me know if you have time for a visit when/if you come down this way for the run.

Happy 3rd Birthday K-Bug!

Kendall had her third birthday party at the splash pad. The rec center has a great room for rent where we held the actual party. Since she's in love with Doc McStuffins, we did the whole party around that theme. She had a good time and looked pretty adorable too!

Halloween 2014

Kendall went back and forth this year on whether she wanted to be her favorite TV character, Doc McStuffins, or a construction worker. The verdict was a construction worker until about two days before the Fall Parade at Weekday. She was such a cute little doctor! We also got to dress her up and go to our new neighborhood to Trick or Treat with friends. We closed on the new house on October 30, so even though we hadn't moved in, we were able to hang out with new neighbors!

Stone Mountain

Today was Kendall's first trip to Stone Mountain. We rode the tram to the top, ate lunch, rode the train around the mountain, and enjoyed the sights. Such a fun day with Grammy and Pops!   The sign of a good day!
